Scheme That Gives Away Smartphones to Anganwadi Workers – “Poshan Abhiyaan”
Poshan Abhiyaan: The Central government has announced the provision to distribute the smart phones under the “Poshan Abhiyaan”. The new initiatives have been announced by the central government as a replacement for providing Tablet PCs under the scheme. The new scheme is a type of nutritional scheme that is primarily being run by the Central government.
As per the new initiatives the distribution of Smart phones would now be done to selected Anganwadi workers supervisors. The initiative was officially taken by the government after the failure of states to procure the Tablet PCs for Anganwadi workers.
Poshan Abhiyaan Launch details
The new initiative was officially taken under the supervision passed by the Child and Women development Ministry. The new decision was officially taken by Rajiv Kumar- NITI Ayog Vice chairman when attending the meet at the national council that was held for covering India’s Nutritional challenges under the scheme “Poshan Abhiyaan”.
Poshan Abhiyaan Key features
- The new initiative for implementation was officially approved by Ram Vilas Paswas – Union Minister for Civil and Food Supplies, Hardeep Singh Puri- Ministers for Housing and Union Affairs, Rakesh Srivastava – Child and Women Development Secretary, along with ministers from Rajasthan, Bihar, UP, Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu and DCs of around 8 districts.
- The new implementation was made on account of DC (Direct Transfer) benefit to the state level and UTs that would help in overcoming the fund or cash Corpus. The decision was made after Finance Ministry had been consulted.
- For effective implementation of the earlier scheme Preraks under the “Swasth Bharat “Abhiyaan would also help in boosting the implementation of the scheme by 2018 July within the 315 districts of the country in Phase one.
- The government has already announced the dispatch of first lot under the scheme that would cover 40 Swasth Bharat Preraks under the scheme by this month at district level.
To make the process of implementation more successful the government has stated that it will aim at deploying one preraks at each district level so the process of coordination with the employees at the district level could be easy. This will help in running and implementing the abhiyaan nationwide.
